Flying B Rescue remains committed to the health and welfare of the animals in Ellis County. We’ve partnered with Dehart Veterinary Services to provide the valuable spay/neuter and wellness services our community needs to start making a real dent in the animal overpopulation crisis we’re facing.

Generally, basic spay and neuter services cost less than $150 at a low-cost provider, but we understand that can still be a stretch for some families. When pets aren’t spayed or neutered, accidental litters happen—and before long, the problem multiplies.
​
To help prevent that cycle, we’re offering free spay/neuter vouchers for Ellis County residents who need financial assistance to get their pets fixed.
If cost has been the barrier, we’re here to help. Fixing your pet protects their health and is one of the most important steps we can take together to reduce unwanted litters in our community.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
• Vouchers are redeemable ONLY at Dehart Veterinary Services Clinic at any location.
​
• You are responsible for scheduling your own appointment by calling or texting (903) 590-7722 or by using Dehart’s online scheduling system.
• A $15 per animal deposit is required to hold your appointment with DeHart.
• Only Ellis County residents living outside the city limits of Waxahachie are eligible for these free vouchers. If you live within Waxahachie city limits, please contact Waxahachie Animal Services for a voucher.​​​

FAQ

General Animal Requirements:

Patients must be older than 8 weeks and/or 2 pounds.
-
Patients must be less than 6 years old unless an "Against Medical Advisement" form is signed or pre-anesthetic bloodwork is performed.

Animals should not have a history of seizures, or be overweight, i.e. fat
-
Dehart does not have a weight limit but patients must be able to comfortably fit inside the mobile cages.
-
Dehart does all dog breeds including bulldog breeds, whippets and greyhounds.

If a female dog/cat has recently had a litter, the puppies must be weaned.
-
Proof of rabies vaccination within the last year is required. Please bring a rabies certificate to check-in (a rabies tag is NOT sufficient) or a vaccination will be required at surgery.

Pets should not have any food after midnight the night before.

Cats should be brought in a hard sided carrier lined with something absorbent.

Dogs need to be brought on a leash, or in your arms (for smaller pets).

If your dog is a bite risk, please muzzle your dog at home before you leave for your surgery or wellness appointment.

Dehart reserves the right to deny any animal if, after the initial examination, they determine the surgery is too risky.

All spay/neuter surgery-related charges, including in-heat, pregnant, pyometra, cryptorchid, umbilical hernias, etc.

MANDATORY microchip for pets, or eartip for community cats

MANDATORY rabies vaccine, if proof is not provided

Recovery cone (recommended for dogs)

Take home pain meds (recommended)

Basic pre-anesthetic bloodwork for senior pets
