Where Hope Takes Flight

ABOUT US
Flying B Animal Rescue & Sanctuary was founded in honor of my husband Tom Baker who passed away from Pancreatic Cancer in June 2023. Tom understood my profound love of animals, and wishing only for my happiness, urged me to pursue my dream of starting an animal rescue. In December 2023 my passion project began. The "Flying B" represents Tom watching over us from the heavens.
It’s a tough time in Ellis County. The SPCA of Texas pulled out because they could not come to a mutually beneficial agreement with our county. It left unincorporated Ellis County and several towns, comprising 800 square miles, without a shelter resource. Grassroots, rural rescues like ours were left to fill the gap. But even with the odds stacked high, our community is showing up. They are keeping hope alive—for the animals, and for us.
We want to do more. Help us help them.

RESCUE
In the rural areas of Ellis County and southern Dallas–Fort Worth, far too many pets are abandoned and left to survive on their own. We see the heartbreaking results firsthand—dogs that were once someone’s pet, now struggling to survive in the country. Our rescue is committed to giving them a second chance, providing safety, medical care, and love until they find the forever homes they deserve.

FOSTER
We partner with local shelters to provide short-term foster care for dogs who are waiting for their next step toward a brighter future..
We also work with community organizations that support people in crisis. When someone needs temporary help caring for their dog—because of housing instability, medical issues, or other life challenges—we can step in to foster the dog until they can be reunited.

SENIOR SANCTUARY
Senior dogs are too often the first to be surrendered or abandoned when the cost or responsibility of care becomes inconvenient. We believe that’s when they need us most. Our mission is to give these dogs the love, comfort, and dignity they deserve—providing a safe home where they can live out their golden years surrounded by care.
