Where Hope Takes Flight
OUR PURPOSE
At Flying B Rescue, our mission is simple:
Prevent what we can.
Rescue what we must.
Heal what is broken.
Create a path forward.
Our goal is to bring our communities together to rescue, heal, and and find loving homes for animals while addressing the root causes of pet homelessness through prevention, education, and access to care. Guided by compassion, integrity, dedication, community, and impact, we strive to build a future where every animal is treated with dignity and every person has equitable access to animal welfare resources. We welcome and serve people from all backgrounds, believing that lasting change happens when communities unite with purpose, kindness, and a shared commitment to improving the lives of animals. Together, we're building a future where hope takes flight—for animals and the people who care about them.
Rooted in Ellis County. Connected Beyond.
Flying B is proudly rooted in Ellis County. This is where our work began, where our community has supported us, and where we're building our permanent home.
But the need — and the opportunity to make a difference — extends far beyond our county lines.
Through our partnerships, we can connect Ellis County dogs to resources and homes throughout North Texas and beyond. Ticket Outta Texas gives us the ability to take that reach even further, moving dogs from areas saturated with adoptable dogs to communities where families are waiting for them.
The Ellis County Gap
Ellis County doesn't exist in an animal-welfare vacuum. Our dogs are part of a much larger North Texas ecosystem — one that stretches across county lines and, in many cases, across state lines.
When shelters and animal services are overwhelmed, rescue organizations become an important part of the solution. We work alongside shelters and municipal animal services to take in animals who need another pathway forward, giving them time, care, medical attention, and the opportunity to find the right home.
A shelter often has to focus on the immediate need. As a rescue, we have the time to think beyond that first placement. We have the "luxury" of taking the time to learn who a dog really is — their personality, energy level, needs, quirks, and what kind of family will allow them to thrive. We can look beyond our own backyard for that perfect match. And sometimes, that perfect match isn't in Ellis County. It may be in another North Texas community. It may be in another state.
Across the region, adoption demand isn't evenly distributed. Some communities have more dogs needing homes than families looking to adopt. Others have more families looking for the kind of dog who may be difficult to place locally.
Rescue helps connect those two sides of the equation. A dog can move from a shelter or municipal animal service into rescue, receive the care and attention they need, and then move on to the community where their best home is waiting. When that happens, everyone benefits — the dog gets the right home, the shelter gains capacity, and another animal gets a chance.
That's the role Flying B wants to play. We're not trying to solve animal welfare in isolation. We're building our capacity to be a stronger link in the chain — working alongside shelters, animal services, other rescues, veterinarians, transport partners, and adopters to keep animals moving toward better outcomes.
Our home may be in Ferris. Our reach doesn't have to be.
The Flying B Rescue Barns will give us a permanent place to serve Ellis County while becoming part of a much larger network working to give animals the best possible chance at the life they deserve.
Rooted here. Connected beyond. Working together to save more lives.

Flying B Animal Rescue & Sanctuary was founded in honor of my husband Tom Baker who passed away from Pancreatic Cancer in June 2023. Tom understood my profound love of animals, and wishing only for my happiness, urged me to pursue my dream of starting an animal rescue. In December 2023 my passion project began. The "Flying B" represents Tom watching over us from the heavens.

WHAT WE DO
Prevent | Rescue | Heal | Home
PREVENT
The best dog to rescue is the one who never needed rescuing.
We work to prevent dogs from entering the shelter and rescue system in the first place by making spay and neuter more accessible to the families who need it most. Through community programs, education, and access to affordable veterinary care, we’re addressing the problem at its source.

RESCUE
When a dog has nowhere else to go, we do what we can to help.
Flying B rescues dogs who need a second chance, often from the streets, providing the food, shelter, veterinary care, and daily attention they need to move forward. Our capacity is limited, so we can't take every dog who needs us — but we work with shelters, communities, and other rescue partners to find a path forward whenever we can.

HEAL
Rescue is more than getting a dog out. It’s helping them become whole again.
Some dogs need medical treatment. Some need patience, structure, or a little help learning to trust again. We give each dog the time, care, and support they need to heal — physically and emotionally — so they can be ready for the life waiting for them.

HOME
Every dog deserves the right home — not just any home.
We take the time to understand each dog's personality, needs, and quirks so we can find the right match. And when the best home isn't right here in North Texas, we help get that dog where the right family is waiting. Because the goal isn't simply adoption. It's a lifetime home.
