Flying B recently purchased five acres that will become our permanent rescue home — a place where more abandoned, neglected, and at-risk animals can find safety, healing, and a second chance.
But this campus was never meant to be just a place for Flying B dogs. We'll be sharing this property with Ferris Animal Services. They share our belief that the animals have to come first. They're willing to look beyond the traditional ways of doing things, explore new ideas, and work collaboratively to find better solutions. Creating a collaborative animal-welfare hub where municipal animal services, rescue, private veterinary medicine, and the community can work together to save more lives just made sense.
Because the future of animal welfare isn't one organization doing everything. It's all of us working together. As we grow, we'll transform the existing agricultural barns into a rescue campus designed around the physical and emotional well-being of the animals in our care.
A Place to Say "Yes"
Our capacity will always have limits. We can't take every dog who needs us, and we don't pretend that we can. But having a permanent facility means we can say yes more often — and say yes responsibly.
The Rescue Barns will give us dedicated space for dogs who need somewhere to land, whether they come directly into Flying B's care or reach us through shelter and rescue partnerships.
That additional capacity doesn't just help Flying B. It creates another place in the North Texas animal-welfare network where dogs can go when the system is stretched.
A Bridge Between Communities
Animal welfare doesn't stop at a county line. A dog in Ellis County may find a home in Dallas. A dog from another North Texas community may find a rescue placement through Flying B. A dog who has no adoption prospects here may have a family waiting several states away.
Our work is connected. Through partnerships, transfers, foster homes, adoptions, and Ticket Outta Texas, Flying B helps move dogs through the system toward the resources and homes they need.
We don't have to be the final destination to make a difference. Sometimes we're the bridge.
Prevention Is Part of Rescue
We're also looking upstream.
Through Snip It in the Bud, we're working to make spay and neuter more accessible to families in the communities we serve. Because every unwanted litter prevented is a litter that won't later need a shelter kennel, foster home, rescue placement, or transport.
That means the Rescue Barns are only one part of our work.

There are more dogs who need help than any one shelter or rescue can take. Shelters become full. Rescues reach capacity. Families struggle to afford veterinary care. And when there aren't enough homes in one community, dogs can wait while great families are waiting for them somewhere else.
That's why the solution can't be one organization working alone. It has to be an ecosystem. The Flying B Rescue Barns are being built to become one part of that larger ecosystem — a place where dogs can receive care, recover, prepare for adoption, and move on to the next step in their journey.

A North Texas Resource
Flying B is rooted in Ellis County, but our work doesn't stop at the county line. Animals move through a regional system. Shelters, rescues, veterinarians, fosters, transport partners, adopters, volunteers, and donors all play a role in getting an animal from where they are to where they need to be.
The Rescue Barns give Flying B a permanent place within that system — and sharing the campus with Ferris Animal Services gives us an opportunity to make that system stronger.
We're not building an island. We're building a hub. A place where organizations can collaborate, where animals can receive the care they need, where families can find support, and where more dogs can move through the system and into homes.
The Dream Is Big. So Is the Need.
This campus won't become reality without our community. We'll need volunteers of every kind — contractors, electricians, plumbers, landscapers, carpenters, tradespeople, animal lovers, and people who simply want to show up and help.
We'll need donations of building materials, appliances, supplies, equipment, and professional services. And we'll need people who believe that our communities can do better for the animals who depend on us.
Together, we're building more than a rescue. We're building a place where animals can heal, families can find their perfect companion, communities can work together, and more lives can be saved.
